Nepal certificate attestation in Dubai
Nepal certificate attestation in Dubai needs three things done in Nepal and one done here. The body that issued the certificate confirms it, the Department of Consular Services of Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu attests it, and the UAE embassy in Kathmandu stamps it. Then MOFA in the UAE completes the attestation. We handle the MOFA step and tell you exactly what must happen in Kathmandu.

MOFA in the UAE
The first office differs by document. School results start with the examination board, degrees with the university, and birth or marriage records with the local registration office that recorded the event. If that first office is skipped, Kathmandu will not attest the paper.

The first office for each Nepali document
SEE and higher secondary (plus two) results:
the National Examinations Board, or the board that issued older SLC certificates.
Bachelor’s and master’s degrees:
the university’s examination controller, for example at Tribhuvan University.
Birth, marriage and relationship certificates:
the ward or local registration office that recorded the event, often with an English version from the District Administration Office.
Police report:
Nepal Police headquarters. See police clearance attestation.

Step by step
Nepali language certificates
Many Nepali civil records are in Nepali. Some offices issue an English version, and some certificates are bilingual. A document only in Nepali needs a translation MOFA and the UAE office accept. Two options:

Get the English version or a certified English translation in Nepal, so it goes through the same stamps.

Have a legal translation made in the UAE after MOFA, if the receiving office allows it. See legalized translation in Dubai.
Kathmandu steps when you are in the UAE
Most Nepali residents we speak to are already working in the UAE when an employer or visa office asks for attestation. The Kathmandu steps can usually be done by a family member with an authority letter from you. We draft that letter in English and tell your family member the order of offices.
Keep a colour scan of every page and every stamp before the document leaves you. If it is lost in transit, the scan shows exactly what must be redone.
The UAE embassy in Kathmandu
After Nepal’s foreign ministry, the document goes to the UAE embassy in Kathmandu. It cannot be done at the Nepal embassy in the UAE, which serves Nepali citizens here for their own consular needs.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Nepal embassy in Abu Dhabi attest my certificate for a UAE employer?
No. For UAE use, the attestation is done by Nepal’s foreign ministry in Kathmandu and the UAE embassy there, then MOFA here.
My family member in Nepal will go to the offices. What do they need?
The original document, a copy of your passport, and an authority letter from you. Some offices ask for more. We give them a written list before they go.
My marriage certificate is only in Nepali. Can MOFA still attest it?
Only with a translation it accepts. Get the English version in Nepal if the office offers one, or plan a certified translation.
How long does the Kathmandu part take?
It varies with the office and the season. We give you an estimate once we see the document.
