Declarations and affidavits for Canada
A declaration is a written statement you sign before a notary public, who checks your identity, watches you sign and applies the seal. Canadians here are asked for them by offices and banks in Canada, and by the Canadian embassy. Typical examples:
- A statutory or solemn declaration of facts for a Canadian office.
- A declaration of residency stating that you live in the UAE.
- A declaration of relationship or support for a family member’s application.
- A general affidavit where the office uses that word instead.

Immigration papers signed in the UAE
Canadian immigration and citizenship files often ask for signed forms and certified copies. We notarise the signature on the form and certify copies of your passport pages, degree or bank statement against the originals. See certified true copies.
Power of attorney for use in Canada
A power of attorney lets someone in Canada act for you: sell a vehicle, deal with a bank, handle a property or represent you in a family matter. We draft or check the text and notarise it. Canada certificate attestation in Dubai: papers from Canada
The UAE rule is the home country’s authentication first, then the UAE embassy in that country, then MOFA. Which Canadian office authenticates depends on the document, so ask the office that issued it which authority to use for a country that is not a party to the Apostille Convention.
Degrees: a notary comes first
Canadian authorities authenticate a signature they hold on file, such as a registrar’s or a notary public’s. A diploma signed by a university officer is often not on that list. So the usual route for a degree is a notarised copy, then authentication of the notary’s signature, then the UAE embassy. Ask the UAE office whether it accepts an attested notarised copy or insists on the original. See degree attestation.
Birth certificates for a child’s visa
Canadian provinces issue short and long form birth certificates. A UAE visa office sponsoring a child usually wants the version that names both parents. Order that one before the attestation starts, because each certificate is attested separately. See birth certificate attestation.
French language documents
A certificate issued only in French cannot go to MOFA as it is. You can have an English translation made in Canada, or a legal translation made in the UAE if the receiving office accepts it.
RCMP checks
An RCMP criminal record check for a UAE job goes through Global Affairs Canada, then the UAE embassy, then MOFA. See police clearance attestation.

Can I sign a Canadian statutory declaration in Dubai?
Yes. You sign it before our notary public, in person, online or at home. Bring the form and your passport, and check with the Canadian office whether it also wants MOFA attestation.
Does a Canadian apostille help in Dubai?
No. The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so a Canadian document for Dubai still needs a Canadian authentication and the UAE embassy stamp, then MOFA.
Can I attest an RCMP check for a UAE job?
Yes. It goes through Global Affairs Canada, then the UAE embassy, then MOFA. Some offices want it recent.
