Educational certificate attestation in Dubai, for parents
When a family moves to Dubai, the new school asks for the child’s old school records, and often for more paperwork around them. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. We notarise true copies of school certificates, consent letters from a parent and declarations, and then help you with educational certificate attestation in Dubai for the originals.
A transfer certificate, a last report card or a school leaving certificate issued abroad is attested where it was issued, stamped at the UAE mission in that country, and finished at MOFA in the UAE. Schools then use the attested papers to place the child in the right grade.
This page is written for parents. For university degrees, see degree attestation in Dubai.

Notary services parents ask for
| Notary service | When you need it |
|---|---|
| Notarised true copy of a school certificate or report card | The school wants a copy on file and you keep the original. See certified true copies. |
| Notarised copy of mark sheets | A school or university asks for exam results as well as the certificate |
| Parent consent letter (NOC) | One parent enrols the child and the school or another office asks for the other parent’s consent in writing. See NOC from parents. |
| Declaration or affidavit | You need to confirm facts in a signed statement, for example that two spellings of the child’s name belong to the same child. See affidavits before a notary. |
| Authority letter with signature attestation | A relative at home will take the papers through the offices there for you. See signature attestation. |
A notarised copy is useful for everyday requests. It does not replace the attested original when a school asks for attestation.
In person, online or at home
Parents are busy, so you choose how to sign. You can come in person to our in-house notary public services. Our online notary public services work by video, through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS. We tell you if your document can be done online. See online notary.
With our home visit notary services we come to your home or office in the UAE, which helps when both parents need to sign.

Which school papers are usually asked for
| Child is joining | Papers schools commonly ask for |
|---|---|
| Early years or first grade | Birth certificate, nursery report if any |
| A middle grade | Transfer certificate or leaving certificate, last report card |
| Upper secondary | Transfer certificate, recent report cards, exam results |
| University in the UAE | Secondary school certificate and results, often with equivalency |
Attest only what is on the school’s list. Most schools also want the birth certificate, and you need it attested for a residence visa anyway. See birth certificate attestation.
Step by step
The easy way: attest before you move
While you are still at home, the school and the education authority are within reach.

01
Ask the current school
for a transfer certificate and final report on letterhead, signed and stamped.
02
Take them to your country’s education authority, if it has one, and then the foreign ministry.
03
Take them to the UAE mission
that serves your city.
04
Bring the originals to Dubai.
We handle the MOFA step.
Our country pages list the home country offices, for example Indian certificate attestation and Pakistan documents attestation.
The harder way: you are already in Dubai
If the school asks after you arrive, the papers must go back to your home country. A relative there can take them through the offices with your authority letter. We prepare that letter and notarise your signature on it, in person, online or at your home. Ask the school what it accepts while attestation is in progress.
Small details that matter
Letterhead, signature and stamp.
An unsigned printout from an online portal is often refused.
Name spelling.
It should match the child’s passport. If it does not, ask the old school to correct it before attestation, or ask whether a notarised declaration will do.
Grade and dates.
The transfer certificate should show the last grade completed and the date the child left.
Language.
Arabic and English are fine. Any other language needs a certified translation. See legal translation.

Dubai school certificates going abroad
When a family leaves the UAE, the new school abroad may ask for the Dubai school’s transfer certificate or results to be attested. A document going abroad is attested by MOFA, then by the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE. Ask us whether an education authority step comes first for your child’s papers. See UAE documents for abroad.
Vocational and secondary school diplomas used for work follow the same chain. If a diploma will be used for a UAE university place, equivalency may follow. See MOE equivalency.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can you notarise a copy of my child’s school certificate?
Yes. Our in-house notary public services notarise true copies of school certificates, report cards and mark sheets. A notarised copy suits a school file, but it does not replace an attested original if the school asks for one.
Can educational certificate attestation in Dubai be done without sending papers home?
Only the MOFA step. The home country and UAE embassy steps happen in the country that issued the papers. A relative can do them with your notarised authority letter.
Does every Dubai school ask for attested school records?
No, it depends on the school and the grade. Ask the school for its written list and attest only what is on it.
The other parent is abroad. How do they sign a consent letter?
They may be able to sign by video through our online notary public services. We tell you if the letter can be done online. If not, they can sign before a notary where they live, and the letter then follows the attestation chain.
My child’s report card is in French. What do we do?
Get a legally certified translation into Arabic or English. Ask the school which language it prefers.
Send your document and know every step before you pay
Share a photo of both sides on WhatsApp and tell us where it will be used. We reply with the stamps it needs, the order they go in and the price for each one.
