Medical certificate attestation, with notarised copies and home visits

Medical papers are often needed when someone is unwell and cannot easily travel. An insurer or employer may want a certified copy of a report, a signed declaration from the patient, or a form for use abroad signed before a notary. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. We notarise those papers, come to the patient when needed, and then help with medical certificate attestation for the original.

Attestation covers three different needs. A sick leave certificate or medical report issued in the UAE may need to be accepted in another country. A medical report issued abroad may need to be accepted by a UAE employer, insurer or court. And a health professional moving to the UAE may need qualification and good standing documents attested for licensing. Each follows its own order of stamps.

A doctor’s or hospital’s signature alone is often not enough for an office in another country. A health authority may need to confirm the document before the foreign affairs chain begins.

A notarised copy is useful for everyday requests. It does not replace attestation when an office asks for an attested original.

A notary at the bedside

Patients often cannot come to an office. With our home visit notary services we come to your home, office, hospital or care home in the UAE. The notary public checks the patient’s ID, watches them sign and applies the seal, just as in person. Our charge is quoted when you book.

Where the patient can use a phone or laptop, our online notary public services work by video, through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS. We tell you if your document can be done online. See online notary.

UAE sick leave and medical reports going abroad

An employer or insurer abroad may ask for a UAE sick leave certificate or medical report to be attested. The health authority that licenses the hospital or clinic may need to confirm it first. Then MOFA attests it, and the embassy or consulate in the UAE of the country receiving it may legalise it. Call or WhatsApp us with the document and we tell you which step comes first.

Foreign medical reports coming into the UAE

A UAE insurer, employer or court may want a foreign medical report attested. The home country route varies: some countries have a health ministry step, others use a notary public to certify the doctor’s signature before the foreign ministry. After that comes the UAE mission abroad, and finally MOFA. Country offices are on embassy attestation.

Documents for health professional licensing

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health staff moving to the UAE are usually asked for attested qualifications and experience letters, and often a good standing certificate from their previous regulator. Things that cause refusals

A report on plain paper without the hospital’s letterhead and stamp.
A doctor’s signature that the health authority cannot match to a licensed practitioner.
Missing dates on sick leave certificates.
Photocopies instead of originals.
More personal detail than the patient wanted shared. Tell us if a shorter report will do.

Frequently asked questions

Can a notary come to a patient in hospital?

Yes. Our home visit notary services come to your home, office, hospital or care home in the UAE. The patient must be able to show ID and sign in front of the notary.

Can MOFA attest a sick leave certificate directly?

A health authority may need to confirm it first, and MOFA then attests it. Call or WhatsApp us with the certificate and we tell you the order for your emirate.

Does medical certificate attestation need the original report?

Yes. MOFA attests originals. We can notarise a true copy for you to keep while the original goes through the chain.

Is a medical report from my home country accepted by a UAE insurer without attestation?

Some insurers accept it, others ask for attestation. Ask the insurer first.

I am a nurse moving to Dubai. Which documents need attestation?

Usually your degree or diploma, experience letters and a good standing certificate, but the regulator’s list decides. Get it in writing before you start.
