Notary services for Sharjah and Ajman residents

Dubai Notary Services provides notary services for people who live and work in Sharjah and Ajman. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. Your power of attorney, affidavit, NOC or true copy can be notarised in person, online or at your home, without a long drive on a working day.

Most people looking for notary services in Sharjah need one of a few things: a power of attorney so someone can act for them, a declaration for an embassy or a bank, a parent’s NOC for a child, or a certified copy of a certificate. If the document will be used outside the UAE, MOFA attests it after the notary. This page covers the notary step first, then MOFA.

Office open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. WhatsApp and online requests answered 24/7.

At a glance

  • Notarised in person, online by video, or at your home, office, hospital or care home in Sharjah or Ajman.
  • Sharjah and Ajman are part of the federal judicial system, so notary work there runs under Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022 on the notary profession.
  • Federal notary fees are set by Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024. For a power of attorney the fee is AED 100 per party, or AED 130 per party through a private notary on the federal schedule.
  • A document going abroad is attested by MOFA after the notary, then by the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE.
  • MOFA charges AED 150 for a personal document and AED 2,000 for a commercial one. Source: MOFA FAQ.

Three ways to get it notarised

In person.

You sign in front of our in-house notary public services team with your original ID. The notary checks who you are, watches you sign and applies the seal.

Online.

Our online notary public services work by video, through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS. We tell you if your document can be done online.

Home visit.

We come to your home, office, hospital or care home in Sharjah or Ajman. This suits older parents, patients and anyone who cannot take time off. Our charge is quoted when you book. See home visit notary services.

Checklist

What to bring on the day

  • Your original Emirates ID and passport. Every person who signs needs their own.
  • The document to be signed. If you do not have one, tell us what it must say and we draft it.
  • For a power of attorney: the full name and passport details of the person you are appointing, and a clear list of what they may do.
  • For a true copy: the original document, not a photocopy.
  • A legal translation if the receiving office wants the document in Arabic. We can prepare this with the notarisation. See legal translation.

Step by step

After the notary: MOFA for documents going abroad

A notarised document that stays in the UAE is usually finished once it is sealed. A document going to another country has two more steps:

01

Notary.

The document is signed and notarised in Sharjah, Ajman or online.

02

MOFA.

MOFA attests the notary’s seal. MOFA takes attestation applications through its website and the UAE MOFA app, and its FAQ says its Customer Happiness Centres are closed.

03

Embassy or consulate.

The destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE legalises the document, where that country asks for it.

A foreign certificate coming into the UAE goes the other way: the home country’s foreign ministry, a UAE embassy or consulate in that country, then MOFA. Country routes are on embassy attestation, and the MOFA step is on notary and MOFA attestation.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a document notarised in Sharjah without going to Dubai?

Yes. We come to your home, office, hospital or care home in Sharjah, or we notarise it online by video. We tell you first if your document can be done online.

Do you cover Ajman as well?

Yes. Ajman residents get the same in person, online and home visit notary services. The fees and the steps are the same as for Sharjah.

Which law covers notaries in Sharjah and Ajman?

Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022 covers the notary profession, and Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024 sets the notary fees. Sharjah and Ajman are part of the federal judicial system, so these federal rules apply.

Do I need MOFA after the notary?

Only if the document will be used abroad, or the office receiving it asks for MOFA. For a document staying in the UAE, the notary seal is usually enough.

Can you notarise a power of attorney for use in my home country?

Yes. We notarise it, submit it to MOFA, and it then goes to your home country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE. Ask the person or bank receiving it which stamps they want before you sign.
