Iran embassy attestation and notary services for Iranians in the UAE

Most Iranian families in the UAE have papers that must be signed here and used in Iran: a power of attorney so a relative can deal with property or an inheritance, a declaration, a consent for a child, or a notarised copy of a passport. We notarise them through our in-house notary public services, in person, online by video or at your home. After the notary, MOFA attests the paper and the Iranian embassy or consulate in the UAE legalises it. That last step is what most people mean by Iran embassy attestation.

The same phrase is also used for the other direction: an Iranian degree, shenasnameh or marriage deed coming to the UAE. That route runs through offices in Iran, the UAE mission for Iran and then MOFA here. Both are on this page.

  • Power of attorney, affidavits, declarations, NOCs and true copies for use in Iran are notarised in person, online or at your home in the UAE.

Step by step

A power of attorney for Iran

A power of attorney lets a parent, sibling or lawyer act for you in Iran while you live here. People use it to sell or rent property, to follow an inheritance, to deal with a bank, or to collect and legalise documents for them.

01

Wording.

Tell us each act the attorney must be able to do. Ask the office in Iran which form it accepts, a power signed before a notary public in the UAE and legalised, or another form, because that decides the route.

02

Translation.

We add a Persian translation if the office in Iran wants one. See legal translation.

03

Signing.

You sign before our notary in person, by video through UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS, or at home. We tell you if your document can be done online.

04

MOFA.

MOFA attests the notarised power. A general power of attorney is on MOFA’s commercial list.

05

Iranian mission.

The Iranian embassy or consulate in the UAE legalises it.

A UAE power of attorney has no fixed statutory validity period. See power of attorney notarised in Dubai.

Iranian documents coming to the UAE

The identity booklet (shenasnameh).

It is the Iranian record of birth, and later pages record marriage, divorce and children. Ask the UAE office which pages it wants translated. See birth certificate attestation.

The marriage deed.

An Iranian marriage is recorded in a marriage deed (sanad-e ezdevaj) issued by a registered marriage office. It is fuller than the note in the shenasnameh. See marriage certificate attestation.

Degrees, school certificates and police clearance.

Each is confirmed by its own issuing office in Iran before the translation and the foreign ministry. See degree attestation and police clearance attestation.

In Iran the document is usually translated before the ministry sees it, and the translation, not only the original, then carries the stamps. Ask the translator to translate into English or Arabic for use in the UAE.

Persian dates and Latin spellings

Iranian records use the Solar Hijri calendar. The Iranian year starts at Nowruz in March, so one Iranian year covers parts of two Gregorian years, and a quick conversion can land in the wrong one. Put your passport next to the translation and check the birth date yourself before it is stamped, since a stamped translation is hard to change.

Persian names have several Latin spellings, and the translator may choose a different one from your passport. Give the translator a passport copy and ask for the passport spelling of every name, including your father’s name.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much are Iran embassy attestation charges?

The Iranian mission sets its own fees for documents going to Iran, and they change. We confirm the current fee for your document and charge it at cost, on top of our service price.

Can I make a power of attorney for Iran in Dubai?

Yes. You sign it before our notary, MOFA attests it, and the Iranian embassy or consulate in the UAE legalises it. First ask the office in Iran which form it accepts.

Can the Iranian consulate in Dubai attest my Iranian degree for a UAE job?

No. A degree for UAE use is legalised in Iran and stamped by the UAE mission for Iran, then MOFA attests it here. The Iranian mission handles documents going to Iran.

Is the shenasnameh enough for my child’s visa?

For many families it is the main record, but the office may also want the marriage deed. Ask the visa office which documents it wants before you order translations.
