Ireland certificate attestation Dubai and notary services for Irish residents

Irish teachers, nurses, engineers and their families in the UAE still have life admin at home: a house to sell or rent out, a bank or pension account, a solicitor who needs a signed declaration. We notarise that paperwork here. Our in-house notary public services cover powers of attorney, affidavits, declarations, NOCs and certified copies, in person, online by video or at your home.

MOFA in the UAE

Going the other way, Ireland certificate attestation Dubai employers and visa offices ask for covers Irish degrees, birth certificates and marriage certificates. The document is prepared in Ireland, often with an Irish notary, legalised by the Department of Foreign Affairs, stamped by the UAE embassy in Dublin and attested by MOFA in the UAE.

At a glance

  • Power of attorney, affidavits, declarations, NOCs and certified copies for use in Ireland are notarised in person, online or at your home in the UAE.
  • A UAE document going to Ireland is attested by MOFA, then by the Irish embassy in the UAE if the Irish office requires it.
  • An Irish document coming to the UAE needs Irish legalisation and the UAE embassy in Dublin before MOFA. Source: MOFA FAQ.
  • Irish documents are in English, which MOFA reads without a translation. Source: MOFA attestation service.

Signing Irish paperwork in the UAE

These are the requests we see most from Irish residents:

Power of attorney

for a family member to sell, let or manage property in Ireland, or to deal with a bank while you are abroad. See power of attorney notarised in Dubai.

Declarations and affidavits

a solicitor, bank or public office in Ireland asks you to swear or sign. See affidavits before a notary.

Certified copies

of your passport, a utility bill or a bank statement for an Irish bank or pension provider. See certified true copies.

Witnessing of your signature

on a form that must be signed before a notary. See witnessing of signature.

Travel consent

for a child flying with one parent. See NOC for a child visa.

Our notary checks your ID, watches you sign and applies the seal. Ask the office in Ireland whether it also wants the MOFA and embassy stamps, because some Irish offices only need the notary.

Step by step

How a UAE notarised document reaches Ireland

01

Draft.

Send us the form or the wording from your solicitor, or we draft it with you.

02

Sign.

In person, by video through UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS, or at home. We tell you if your document can be done online.

03

MOFA.

If the Irish office asks for legalisation, MOFA attests the notarised document.

04

Irish embassy.

The Irish embassy in the UAE then legalises it, if the Irish office requires that step.

05

Post.

You courier it to Ireland with tracking.

A UAE certificate used in Ireland, such as a Dubai birth certificate for Irish citizenship registration, skips the notary and starts at MOFA. See UAE documents for use abroad.

Where the Irish notary fits, for documents coming here

The Department of Foreign Affairs can only authenticate a signature or seal it has on record. That is why many Irish documents need a notary public in Ireland first: the notary certifies a copy, or confirms the signature of the university registrar, and the Department then authenticates the notary.

As a rule of thumb, a certificate signed by a public official may go straight to the Department, while a degree, a transcript, a reference letter or a company document usually goes to a notary in Ireland first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I sign a power of attorney for Ireland in Dubai?

Yes. You sign it before our notary in person, online or at home. If the Irish office asks for legalisation, MOFA attests it and then the Irish embassy in the UAE legalises it.

Is Irish attestation the same as UK attestation?

No. Ireland has its own Department of Foreign Affairs and the UAE has a separate embassy in Dublin. A degree from Northern Ireland follows the UK route instead.

Can a notary in Dubai certify my Irish degree for the Department of Foreign Affairs?

Usually not. The Department authenticates Irish notaries and officials whose signatures it holds. For an Irish degree, the notary step is done in Ireland.

Will MOFA accept my Irish degree with an apostille?

No. The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so it needs the UAE embassy stamp from Dublin. Ask the Department for legalisation for use in the UAE.

My employer needs my documents soon. What should I do?

Tell us your deadline first, and we will say which steps can run side by side. Posting originals between Dubai and Ireland is usually what takes the longest.

Send your document and know every step before you pay

Share a photo of both sides on WhatsApp and tell us where it will be used. We reply with the stamps it needs, the order they go in and the price for each one.
