Affidavit before a notary in Dubai
An affidavit before a notary in Dubai is a written statement that you swear or affirm in front of a notary public. The notary checks your ID, hears you confirm the statement, watches you sign and applies the seal. That makes the statement something a bank, registry, embassy or court will rely on.
We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. We draft your affidavit, translate it into Arabic where needed, and have it sworn at our office, by video or at your home. If it will be used abroad, we then take it through MOFA and the embassy.
Most affidavit problems come from wording the receiving office did not expect, or a name that does not match the passport. We check both before you sign.

Affidavits we draft and notarise
| Affidavit | What it is for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Single status or no impediment to marriage | Marrying in another country | Some countries want their own consulate’s certificate instead, so ask first |
| One and the same person (name variation) | Linking two spellings on a degree, passport or bank record | Every spelling must be listed exactly |
| Income or salary declaration | A foreign office that needs a sworn statement of your income | Bring a salary certificate or payslips to support it |
| Declaration of residency | A foreign bank, pension, tax or benefits office that needs proof you live in the UAE | An Emirates ID or tenancy contract may be asked for |
| Affidavit of support | A relative’s visit visa | See affidavit of support for a UAE tourist visa |
| Statutory declaration for an embassy | Immigration and citizenship files, such as Canadian statutory declarations | Use the embassy’s own form if it sends one |
| Lost document declaration | Replacing a certificate or passport abroad | A police report may also be asked for |

Step by step
How it works, step by step

01
Send us the request.
Tell us the country and the office that asked, and send its instructions or form.
02
We draft the affidavit.
Short sentences, one fact each, names exactly as in the passports.
03
We translate it, if needed.
Many affidavits for UAE use are written in Arabic and English side by side.
04
You swear it before the notary public.
The notary checks your ID, you confirm the statement is true, you sign, and the notary applies the seal.
05
MOFA and the embassy, if it is going abroad.
We take the notarised affidavit to MOFA and then to the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE.
Checklist
What to bring
- Your original passport, and your Emirates ID if you live in the UAE.
- Any form the receiving office has sent you, left unsigned.
- Documents that support the statement, such as a salary certificate, tenancy contract or the two documents with different name spellings.
- The full names and passport numbers of anyone named in the affidavit.
Wording that works
- Full names exactly as in the passports, with passport numbers.
- A clear statement of the facts, one per sentence.
- The purpose, if the receiving office asks for it.
- Arabic and English side by side, if the affidavit will also be used in the UAE.
A statement you make before a notary must be true. If a fact is uncertain, leave it out or tell us, and we word the affidavit around what you can confirm.
Affidavits signed abroad for use in the UAE
Sometimes a relative abroad has to swear an affidavit for a UAE office, such as a one name affidavit for a visa file. It is notarised in their country, attested by that country’s foreign ministry and the UAE mission there, then by MOFA. See embassy attestation for Dubai.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I make an affidavit before a notary in Dubai?
Send us the request, and we draft the affidavit and set the appointment. You attend in person, by video or at home with your passport and Emirates ID. The notary checks your identity, you confirm the statement, and it is notarised.
Is a notarised affidavit enough for use abroad?
Often not. Many foreign offices also want MOFA attestation and their embassy’s legalisation. Ask the office that requested it, and we handle the steps it names.
Can an affidavit be sworn online?
Our online notary public services work by video through the UAE remote notarisation channels. Whether your affidavit can be done this way depends on the document and the office that will receive it. We tell you before you pay.
Can you draft the affidavit for me?
Yes. We draft it from your details and the receiving office’s instructions, and check every name against the passports. You read it before the appointment.
What is the difference between an affidavit and a declaration?
An affidavit is sworn or affirmed before the notary as true. A declaration may be made as an affidavit or as a signed statement whose signature the notary authenticates. The receiving office’s wording tells us which one it wants.
