Power of attorney notarisation in Dubai
Power of attorney notarisation in Dubai is the step that makes your POA usable: a notary public checks the identity of the person giving the power, watches them sign and applies the notary seal. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services, so your POA can be notarised at our office, by video or at your home.
We draft the POA, prepare the Arabic translation where it is needed, and notarise your power of attorney. If it will be used in another country, we then take it through MOFA and the embassy of that country in the UAE.
Most POAs that get refused fail on something that could have been caught before signing: the wrong wording for the office that will use it, names that do not match the passport, or a power that is too narrow. We check those first.

Types of power of attorney we notarise
| Type of POA | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| General power of attorney | Letting someone manage your affairs in general, such as dealing with offices on your behalf |
| Special power of attorney | One named task, such as signing a single contract or collecting a document |
| Property power of attorney | Buying, selling, renting or managing real estate |
| Vehicle power of attorney | Selling, registering or collecting a car |
| Company power of attorney | Letting a manager or agent act for a company |
| Court case power of attorney | Letting a lawyer act for you in a case |
A POA written in general terms only covers acts of management. Selling property, or any other act of disposal, needs the power spelled out in the document. Source: Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025 (Article 871).
Three ways to sign your POA
In person.
You come to our office and sign in front of the notary public.
Online.
Our online notary public services work by video, through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS. We tell you if your POA can be done online. See online notary in the UAE.
At your home.
We come to your home, office, hospital or care home in the UAE. This suits an elderly or unwell person who cannot travel. See home visit notary in Dubai.
Step by step
How POA notarisation works, step by step

01
Tell us what the POA is for.
The office that will act on it, the country, and what the attorney must be allowed to do.
02
We draft the POA.
Many POAs for UAE use are written in Arabic and English side by side, which saves a separate translation later.
03
We check names and numbers.
Every name and passport number must match the passports exactly.
04
You sign before the notary public.
The notary checks your ID, watches you sign and applies the seal. Do not sign the POA before this moment.
05
Attestation, if it is going abroad.
We take the notarised POA to MOFA and then to the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE.
Checklist
What to bring
- Your original passport, and your Emirates ID if you live in the UAE.
- The passport copy of the person who will receive the power (the attorney).
- Details of the property, vehicle, company or case, if the POA is for one of them.
- For a company POA: the trade licence and the document that shows who may sign for the company.
- Any form or wording the receiving office has sent you.

A POA for use abroad, or a POA from abroad
| Case | Steps, in order |
|---|---|
| Signed in Dubai, used in India | Notary public in the UAE, MOFA, then the Indian consulate or embassy in the UAE |
| Signed in Dubai, used in Pakistan | Notary public in the UAE, MOFA, then the Pakistan consulate or embassy in the UAE |
| Signed in Dubai, used in another country | Notary public in the UAE, MOFA, then that country’s mission in the UAE, where it asks for it |
| Signed abroad, used in Dubai | Notary abroad, that country’s foreign ministry, the UAE mission there, MOFA, then an Arabic legal translation |
Offices in the destination country may add their own steps when the POA arrives, so ask them before you sign. Most UAE offices work in Arabic, so a POA coming in from abroad usually needs an Arabic legal translation. See legal translation for notarisation and MOFA attestation in Dubai.
Cancelling a power of attorney
A POA can be cancelled after it has been notarised or attested. Cancelling a property POA registered in Dubai is listed by the Dubai Land Department among its e-services. Source: DLD revocation service. A cancellation that will be used abroad goes through the same attestation steps as the POA itself.
How we help
- We draft the POA in the wording the receiving office expects.
- We prepare the Arabic translation where it is needed.
- We notarise your power of attorney in person, online or at your home.
- We take it through MOFA and the embassy if it will be used abroad.
- We tell you what the notary abroad must do if the POA is being signed outside the UAE.
For other notarial work, see our public notary services in Dubai and private notary services. Company POAs are also covered on company documents notarisation.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a power of attorney notarised online in the UAE?
Yes, for many POAs. Our online notary public services work by video through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS. We tell you if your POA can be done online before you pay.
Is a POA notarised in Dubai ready to use in India?
Not yet. After the notary public, it needs MOFA and then the Indian mission’s attestation in the UAE. Offices in India may add their own steps when it arrives.
How long is a power of attorney valid in the UAE?
UAE law sets no fixed period. The POA runs for whatever period it states. Some offices that act on a POA apply their own rules on how recent it must be, so ask them.
Is a POA a personal or a commercial document at MOFA?
MOFA lists general and commercial POAs as commercial documents, at AED 2,000. A POA of a personal nature is a personal document, at AED 150. We confirm the class for your POA before quoting.
Can a notary come to a hospital to notarise a POA?
Yes. Our home visit notary services cover homes, offices, hospitals and care homes in the UAE. The person giving the power must be able to understand the document and sign it.
