Online notary in the UAE: sign before a notary by video
With our online notary service in the UAE, you can sign a document before a notary public by video without coming to an office. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. Online notarisation runs through the UAE remote notarisation channels, such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS.
It helps most when you are outside the UAE and need to sign a UAE power of attorney, declaration or consent, or when you are in the UAE but cannot travel to sign. Not every document can be notarised online, and the receiving office may have its own rules. We tell you if your document can be done online before you book, and we prepare it so the video session is short.

Who uses an online notary
| You are | Typical document | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Abroad, with property or a company in the UAE | Power of attorney for a UAE agent | Notarised by video where the system allows it, then used in the UAE |
| Abroad, with a child living in the UAE | Parent’s consent or NOC | Notarised by video where allowed, then given to the school, airline or office in the UAE |
| In the UAE, but unable to travel | Declaration or affidavit | Notarised by video, or by a home visit notary if the document must be signed in person |
| Abroad, signing a form for your own country | Your country’s own form | Not a UAE online notarisation. Use your own country’s notary or consulate |
Checklist
What you need for an online session
- A valid passport. UAE residents also need their Emirates ID.
- The log-in the remote channel asks for. We tell you which ID and log-in you need before the session.
- A device with a camera, a microphone and a steady internet connection.
- A quiet room where you can be seen and heard clearly.
- The final document, which we prepare and send you in advance.
Every person who must sign has to take part. If one signatory cannot join the video, tell us early. The document may need to be signed in person or at a home visit instead.
Step by step
How our online notary service works

01
Check.
You send us the document or its purpose. We tell you if your document can be done online, and if not, what the other route is.
02
Prepare.
We draft or check the document, bilingual where useful, and match every name to the passports. Where the notary needs Arabic, we add a translation by a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice. See legal translation.
03
Book.
We book the video session through the official channel and send you a short checklist.
04
Sign by video.
The notary checks your identity, confirms you understand the document and records your signature.
05
Receive.
You receive the notarised document, and we deliver it to the person or office in the UAE that needs it.
06
Go further if needed.
If the document will be used abroad, it goes to MOFA and the embassy. See UAE documents for use abroad.
Points to check before you sign online
The receiving authority may have its own rules. The Dubai Land Department, for example, applies its own requirements to property powers of attorney. The scope of a power of attorney must also match the task, and a UAE power of attorney has no fixed statutory validity period, so the wording matters. See power of attorney notarisation for the legal points.
If someone abroad has offered you a foreign “remote online notarization” for use in the UAE, that is a foreign document. For UAE use it goes through that country’s authentication chain and the UAE embassy there, then MOFA. Ask the UAE office that will receive it whether it accepts an electronically notarised document before you start. Country routes are on pages such as US certificate attestation in the UAE.
The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so a document leaving the UAE is attested by MOFA, then by the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is there an online notary in the UAE?
Yes. The Ministry of Justice offers remote notarisation through its e-Notary system, and we provide online notary public services by video through the UAE remote channels. Whether your document qualifies is checked case by case, and we tell you before you book.
Can I use an online notary in the UAE from abroad?
Often, yes, for a UAE document such as a power of attorney or consent that will be used in the UAE. We check your document and your situation first. If it cannot be done online, we tell you the other route.
Does an online notarised UAE document need MOFA attestation?
Only when it is going to another country. For use in the UAE, it needs nothing further. For use abroad, it goes to MOFA and then the destination country’s embassy or consulate in the UAE.
Can I use a messaging app video call with a notary?
No. Use only the official channel the notary or authority provides. An informal video call is not an official notarisation.
What is remote online notarization (RON)?
It is a term used mostly in the US for notarisation over video. A RON document for UAE use is a foreign document, so it still needs its country’s authentication and the UAE embassy stamp, then MOFA.
