NOC for UAE visa files, signed before a notary public
An NOC for a UAE visa is a no objection letter from someone whose consent the visa office wants to see: an employer, a sponsor, a spouse or a parent. An employer usually signs on letterhead with a company stamp. A private person, such as a husband, a parent or a family sponsor, has no company stamp, so the signature is verified by a notary public instead.
We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. We draft your NOC, the signer signs it before our notary public in person, online or at home, and if the letter has to cross a border, we take it on through translation, MOFA and the embassy.
Three questions that decide what your NOC needs
1. Who signs it?
An employer signs on letterhead with a company stamp. A private person signs before a notary public.
2. Where do they sign?
Inside the UAE, the signer signs before our notary public in person, online or on a home visit. Outside the UAE, the NOC is signed before a notary in that country and legalised for UAE use.
3. Which country’s office reads it?
A UAE office reading a UAE NOC usually needs nothing further. A foreign embassy reading a UAE NOC may want MOFA and sometimes its own stamp. A UAE office reading a foreign NOC needs the foreign chain.

Step by step
How an NOC for UAE visa files is notarised

01
Tell us who signs, where, and who will read it.
Those three answers decide the route.
02
We draft the NOC
to match what the reader asks for, in English and Arabic where that helps.
03
The signer signs before our notary public.
In person, online by video through the UAE remote notarisation channels such as the Ministry of Justice e-Notary system and UAE PASS, or at home, office, hospital or care home on a home visit. We tell you if your document can be done online.
04
The notary checks ID and seals the letter.
The notary confirms who the signer is, watches the signature and applies the seal.
05
Translation, MOFA and embassy, only if needed.
If the NOC is going abroad, we take it through MOFA and the destination embassy in the UAE.
Step by step
NOCs from abroad for a UAE visa
Typical cases: a husband living abroad giving consent for his wife’s UAE visa or work, or a parent abroad giving consent for a child’s UAE residence. The route:

01
The NOC is written in the form the UAE office expects, ideally in Arabic and English. We send the signer the wording.
02
The signer goes to a notary public in the country where they live and signs there.
03
That country’s foreign ministry attests the notary’s signature.
04
The UAE embassy or consulate there stamps it.
05
MOFA attests it in the UAE.
For a parent’s NOC for a child, see NOC from parents for a visa. Country routes are on our embassy attestation page.
UAE NOCs shown at foreign embassies
UAE residents applying for a tourist or business visa to another country are often asked for an employer NOC confirming their job, salary and approved leave. Most embassies accept it on company letterhead, signed and stamped. Some ask for it to be attested. In that case the usual route is a chamber of commerce or notary public step, then MOFA, then the embassy itself if it asks. Check the embassy’s own checklist first. Our page on legalising UAE documents for use abroad covers the outward chain.
What an NOC usually contains
- Full name, nationality and passport number of the person the NOC is about.
- The signer’s full name, relationship or job title, and passport or Emirates ID number.
- A clear sentence of no objection, naming the purpose (a visa, a job, travel dates).
- For an employer: the company name, trade licence number, the employee’s position, the salary if the embassy asks, and a stamp.
- Date and signature. For a private person, the signature is made in front of the notary.
Some UAE offices ask for an NOC in Arabic. A bilingual NOC avoids a separate translation. See legal translation for notarisation.
When an employee leaves the UAE for a job elsewhere, the new country may ask for an NOC or release letter along with experience certificates. These are usually attested together. See experience certificate attestation.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does an NOC for a UAE visa need a notary?
If a private person signs it, usually yes, because there is no company stamp to verify the signature. An employer NOC on letterhead with a company stamp often does not. Ask the office that will read it.
Does an NOC for a UAE visa need attestation?
Only if it is signed outside the UAE, or if the office that reads it is abroad and asks for it. A UAE NOC used in the UAE usually does not.
Can my husband send an NOC from abroad for my UAE visa?
Yes. He signs it in front of a notary where he lives, it is attested there, stamped by the UAE mission and then attested by MOFA. Check with the visa office whether it wants his NOC in your case.
Is an NOC from my employer enough for a Schengen visa?
Most embassies accept an employer letter on letterhead. Check the embassy’s own checklist before paying for attestation.
Do I need the NOC in Arabic?
Some UAE offices prefer Arabic. A bilingual NOC is the safe choice for use inside the UAE.
